Step 1. First things first, your skin needs to be prepped. We recommend that you shave and exfoliate 24 hours prior.
Step 2. Shower and remove any sweat, sunscreen, moisturiser and deodorant. For the best results, ensure your skin is clean, exfoliated and moisturiser free.
Step 3. Apply one firm pump of your Tanning Foam of choice onto your Luxe Tanning Mitt. Use long strokes to apply to arms, legs and body, topping up your tanning foam as required.
Step 4. Use the residual foam on your Luxe Tanning Mitt for your face, neck, elbows and knees.
Step 5. Wash your hands and wait 1 hour or up to 8 hours before rinsing off the residue with cool water. Pat dry and repeat for the darkest bronze tan possible.
What is DHA?
DHA stands for dihydroxyacetone and is the chemical in fake tan that is responsible for changing the colour of the skin. Here at Byron Bay Bronze we use a high-quality nature-derived DHA which is considered safe by the FDA and is derived from beet or cane sugar which reacts with the amino acids in the top layer of skin to create a natural-looking bronzed tan.
Our products are more than just a fake tan!
All of our products are formulated with find active ingredients to hydrate, replenish and fight the skins of ageing all while creating a natural bronzed tan.
- Aloe Vera hydrates and fades stretch marks.
- Witch Hazel absorbs excess oil and fights breakouts.
- Macadamia Seed Oil is nourishing and an anti-inflammatory.
- Kakadu Plum works to improve skin elasticity and reduce fine lines.
- Vitamin C promotes collagen production.

Our bottles are made from recycled plastic and every time your purchase a product from us, we remove 1kg of plastic from the ocean. You can rest assure that when you purchase from Byron Bay Bronze we truly mean good for better for your skin and better for the planet.
Using a high-quality mitt is the best way to achieve a flawless look. Our Luxe Tanning Mitt has a plush finish and delivers an even, streak-free tan that glides on easily. Do not make the mitt-stake of using inferior quality products or your hands... you'll regret it.
If you’re an experienced tan user, you’ll know that your hands aren’t the best tools for applying tanning foam. Fingers leave streaks, the foam gets applied disproportionately, and your hands end up much darker than the rest of your body. That’s why we’re convinced that tanning mitts are the best way to get an even tan – so much so that we designed one ourselves.
The spongy nature of the self tanning mitt is how it distributes the product evenly. Using a generous amount of the tanning foam, move the mitt in gentle circular motions over your body. For areas that are hard to reach by yourself, ask a friend or family member to help you out.
With this spongy mitt on your side, self-tanning is easy. To distribute the product evenly, squirt 2-3 pumps of your product to the tanning mitt and start moving it in gentle circular motions over your body. We suggest starting at the top of your shoulders and working down your body, making sure to put the bulk of the product on the areas you want to be the darkest, such as your arms, legs and chest. If you run into any tricky areas, like elbows or knees, switch to long, thick strokes to blend the product in.
If you get any patchy bits or big blobs of product, don’t worry! Keep blending the self-tan into the surrounding areas to even it out, or dab the excess tan with a damp cloth or cotton pad. When it’s dry, you can go over that area with your tanning mitt again.
Once you’ve self tanned your body, use the residue on the mitt to tan the back of your hands, the tops and sides of your feet and your face. The reason why we save these areas for last is because you don’t need too much product to get a golden glow.
Our feet, hands, elbows, and knees tend to be the driest parts of our bodies. Therefore, tan tends to cling to them that little bit more. To avoid this occurring when applying self tan, we recommend only using the leftover residue on your mitt to rub onto these areas so only a small amount is distributed.
When self tanning and spray tanning, apply a small amount of chemical-free moisturiser to dryer skin areas before your tan application which acts as a barrier and protects these areas from absorbing too much tan.
