That's right, it's WASH OFF WEDNESDAY!
So, you want to remove your Self Tan but aren’t sure how to do it without aggressively scrubbing your skin and causing irritation? Don't fret, pet, whether you want to remove an old, patchy tan or simply want to cleanse your skin before applying a fresh tan, we're here to solve all of your tan removal Q's. Let us guide you on how to perfectly remove your fake tan gently and effectively with just two natural products.
How do I remove my fake tan?
To remove old tan completely, all you will require is two products:
A Professional Strength Tan Remover and
An exfoliating Mitt
The Byron Bay Bronze Professional Strength Tan Remover is a natural self tan removing foam formulated with coconut oil, to hydrate the skin, and kakadu plum to help fight the signs of ageing, all while gently removing your bronzed glow bringing you back to freshly prepped skin ready for your new Self Tan.
You're going to want to pair your tan remover with an exfoliating mitt, we recommend our natural, sustainably sourced Sisal & Bamboo Exfoliating Mitt that is perfect for sensitive skin.

Sisal & Bamboo Exfoliating Mitt - 14.95
How do I remove my fake tan?
Firstly, ensure your skin is nice and dry. Then, pump a few pumps of our Professional Strength Tan Remover onto our Sisal + Bamboo Exfoliating Mitt and apply generously to dry skin in a gentle circular motion. Keep applying until all areas of where you have Self Tan applied are covered. Leave on your skin for 5 minutes. Once this has set in, wipe off with a wet face cloth. For more stubborn tan, repeat the above steps. Then shower with warm water removing any residue and moisturise afterwards. If you're feeling a little pale now that you have removed all of your tan, you can try our gradual tan formula which will leave you with nicely moisturised skin and the start of a build up tan.
Ok, so you've got your body sorted. What do you do about your face? You will find that generally fake tan applied to your face will naturally fade faster than your body, due to factors such as applying makeup over the top and the fact that we tend to exfoliate our faces more frequently.
However, if you’re stuck with fake tan on your face that you wish to remove, simply follow the above steps but given that your face is a delicate area, you want to be nice and gentle and avoid going too hard with your exfoliation.
Our Tan Remover is perfectly safe to use on your face, containing hydrating and nourishing active ingredients to soothe skin afterwards. Our Exfoliating Mitt is gentle on skin and also suitable for your face. However if you do find this too rough on your face, you can substitute for a soft face cloth.
There’s nothing worse than ‘tan hands’ after applying a fake tan without using an application mitt. To avoid this occurring, you should always use a Tanning Mitt when applying tan to protect your hands from ending up with horrible tan patches. If you've ended up with tan hands, or with a patchy build up from not evenly applying tan around your hands and fingers, simply follow the above steps, however, you may need to repeat these steps 2-3 times given the dry and stubborn nature of your hands and fingers.
How do I remove fake tan without causing skin irritation?
Ensure you use products specifically designed for tan removal and not something that is going to be harsh and potentially dangerous for your skin. We’ve heard of people using a scourer to remove their tan- which is a recipe for disaster and irritated skin! Our safe and effective Professional Strength Tan Remover has been created with organic & sustainably sourced actives like Kakadu Plum, Aloe Vera & Coconut water. These ingredients have been blended to achieve an optimal result (removing old tan completely) while maintaining the health and hydration of your skin. Similarly, our Sisal + Bamboo Exfoliating Mitt works to exfoliate skin effectively but also gently. It’s made with premium, organic Sisal and Bamboo so your skin is in good hands.
After you’ve removed all of your tan, be sure to apply a high quality moisturiser to keep your skin well nourished and hydrated. Oh, and get ready for Tanning Thursday tomorrow!
